ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Helsinki
Arrival in Helsinki. which is beautiful located at a peninsula in the baltic sea. Welcome by an English speaking guide. Sightseeing tour through Helsinki, we will see the buildings from the art nouveau. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Helsinki.
Day 2: Excursion to the little city Porvoo
After breakfast we will drive by bus 50 km to Porvoo, which is founded in the year 1346, the second oldest town in Finnland. The village is situated pitur-esque by the Borga – a creek, which flows into the finnish bay belonging to the area of the Schären. Continuing to an artist colony at the lake Tuusula. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Helsinki.
Day 3: Helsinki – Lahti - Mikkeli
In the morning we start the round trip with a visit of the Villa Ainola in Järven-pää. The villa was home and place of work of the famous composer Jean Sibelius. Continuing to Lahti, 80 km north east from Helsinki. In the afternoon we will drive to the neighbour city Mikkeli. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Mikkeli.
Day 4: Experiences in Mikkeli
Sightseeing tour in Mikkeli. The capital of the province with the same name was founded 1928 at the riverside of the lake Saimaa. On the way we will visit the little church museum Kivisakasti and the big wooden church of the com-munity Mikkeli, built 1817. The afternoon is leisure time. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel. in Mikkeli.
Day 5: The biggest seascape of Europe to Savonlinna
Today we continue the trip to the amazing area Saimyaa Sea towards Puu-mala. We will have a panoramic view over the landscape consisting of un-counted lakes and islands arose in the former ice-age. In Retretti we will visit the biggest art centre of Scandinavia. In the early afternoon we continue to the biggest wooden church in the world, built in the age of 1847. Dinner and over-night stay at hotel in/near Savonlinna.
Day 6: Music and orthodox church art
After breakfast we drive to the museum of mechanical music. You can expect an enjoyable adventure. Afterwards we continue to the community of Heinävesi. There we will see the orthodox monasteries of New Valamo. Din-ner and overnight stay at hotel in Jyväskylä.
Day 7: Citylife, architecture and nature in Jyväskylä
In the morning visit of Jyväskylä. The town is situated in the north of Päijanne, which is with 119 km one of the longest and deepest lake of Finnland. During the day we will see the first finnish speaking grammar school of the russian period from 1809-1917 and will also have a look to some buildings of the famous architect Alvar Aalto. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Jyväskylä.
Day 8: Hämeenlinna – Departure from Helsinki
Breakfast at hotel and check-out. Transfer to the airport of Helsinki and flight back home. |
