ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Rome
Arrival in Rome, with a warm welcome by our English-speaking guide; transfer via bus to the hotel in Rome. Dinner at hotel.
Day 2: The Antique Rome
Today you will explore Rome "Caput Mundi". Let’s start with the Pantheon, not far from Piazza Navona, a pagan temple that was transformed into a church in 608. From the Pantheon go straight to the Colosseum, the huge amphitheater that is the symbol of Rome. Once you have finished visiting the inside of the Colosseum, head towards the Roman Forum, walking along Via dei Fori Imperiali and continue to the Palatine hill, the first center of this city and home to many emperors. Further we will visit Circus Maximus, the churches S. Sabina and S. Maria in Cosmedin. The rest of the day is free of leisure.
Day 3: Rome during the Baroque period
This tour is dedicated to a special period of this amazing city, the Baroque time. Therefore we are visiting the church “Gesu II”; then we continue to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Four-River-Fountain, Neptun Fountain, all masterpieces of Gianlorenzo Bernini. Then we will visit the famous Trevi fountain: allow yourself to join in the obligatory ritual for any decent tourist of throwing a coin into the fountain. The end of this tour will be the fantastic Spanish Steps. Here you can have a break from culture by taking a walk down the elegant Via Condotti to admire the luxurious shop windows. If you are feeling more Bohemian than fashion victim, why not take a walk down Via Margutta, the famous street of artists. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
Day 4: The Christian Rome
This part of the day will be entirely dedicated to visiting the Vatican, a real city within a city. In the morning you will have the possibility to go to Mass at the Saint Peter’s Cathedral, the largest church in the world. Leaving the Cathedral, walk along Via della Conciliazione until you get to Castel Sant'Angelo where Hadrian’s Mausoleum is kept. The rest of the day is free of leisure.
Day 5: Departure from Rome
Accompagnied by our English-speaking guide, transfer via bus to the airport of Rome and flight back home. |
