ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Vilnius
Arrival in Vilnius. Warm welcome by an English-speaking guide. Transfer to the hotel and dinner/overnight in Vilnius.
Day 2: Vilnius – Trakai – Kaunas
After breakfest, visit of the capital of Lithuania, this reminds of a labyrinth with small alleys and many monuments. We will see the most beautiful churches of Vilnius. Then we continue to the mediaeval Trakai castle. Transfer to the hotel in Kaunas. Dinner/overnight at hotel in Kaunas.
Day 3: Kaunas – Klaipeda (Memel) - Nidden
In the morning city tour in Kaunas. We visit the old town with its monuments like the ruins of the Kaunasser castle and the cathedral. Afterwards we drive from Kaunas to Klaipeda/Memel and continue with the ferry boat to the Courland Spit. In the afternoon we walk through the fishing village and visit the house of Thomas Mann. Drive to the biggest walking dune of Europe. Dinner/overnight in Klaipeda.
Day 4: Klaipeda (Memel) - Siauliai - Riga
After breakfast we will have a walking tour through Klaipeda – the former Memel. Afterwards drive to Riga. On this way we will pass Siauliai, where will stop at the hill of crosses which is the national memorial place of Lithuania. Dinner/overnight at the hotel in Riga.
Day 5: Riga – Mezotne – Rundale
In the morning city tour of Riga, with the cathedral, the Swedish gate, trading houses, the St. Peter and St. John’s church and the Powder Tower. In the afternoon excursion to the manor-houses. About 80 km in the south of Riga we will visit the castle Rundale and Mezotne palace. Transfer back to Riga. Dinner/overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Riga – Sigulda - Tallinn
After breakfast, transfer to Sigulda, to the national park of Gauja. Visit of the castle Segewold and continuation to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Dinner/overnight at hotel in Tallinn.
Day 7: Tallin
After breakfast city tour in Tallinn: From the cathedral on the montain you have a very nice panoramic view of this mediaeval town, the old battlement with its towers, the Alexander Nevsky cathedral and St. Olaf church. The rest of the day is free of leisure. Dinner/overnight at the hotel in Tallinn.
Day 8: Departure fromTallinn
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight back home. |
