ITINERARY
Day 1: Frankfurt - Istanbul - Trabzon
Flight with Turkish arline via Istanbul to Trabzon: Warm welcome through an English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. Two overnight stays at the hotel.
Day 2: Trabzon - Sumelakloster
Travelling to Macka and excursion to the former Marien sainthood and claustral ruin of Panagia Sumelas. Aufstieg zum 250m über einen Gebirgsbach. Transfer back to Trabzon. In the afternoon visiting of Trabzon, the former capital of the kingdom Pontus. (HP).
Day 3: Trabzon - Erzurum
Over the huge Zigana (2000m) and Koppaß (2400m) it leads into the valley of the Higher Euphrat. Visiting of the Skythenmetropole Bayburt and travelling farther to Erzurum. (HP).
Day 4: Erzurum - Kars
Transfer to Kars, passing Sarikamis and visiting the ancient 12 apostle church and the Ottoman public bath. Next travelling to the city of ruins Ani. Later visiting the mounting places, church ruins, claustral places and mosque. Driving home and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Kars - Van
In the morning travel to Tuzluca, later to Dogubeyazit. Visit of the kurdish palace ruin of Ishak Pascha, situated in a high mountain region. Further transfer to Van passing Muradiye. Two overnight stays in the hotel. (HP)
Day 6: Van
In the morning visit of the excavations of Tuschpa. Later travel to Geras to visit the mausoleum and the graveyards. Passing the valley of the big Zap to the kings castle Cavustepe and to the ruins of the kurdish feudal castle Hosap. Driving back to Van. (HP)
Day 7: Van - Diyarbakir
Travel along the bank of Vansee passing Tatvan to Bitlis, residence city of kurdish seigneurs. Farther transfer to Diyarbakir and visiting of the Tigris bridge, the fortress place etc. Transfer to the hotel. (HP)
Day 8: Diyabakir - Sanli Urfa
Driving to Mardin and visit of the claustral Deir-es Safaran. Passing Mesopotamia to Sanli Urfa and discovery of the archaelogical museum etc. Transfer to the hotel. (HP)
Day 9: Sanli Urfa - Adiyaman
In the morning excursion to the truli houses of Harran. Explicity visit of the city walls with gates, citadels, etc. Driving back to Urfa and enjoying the bazaars. Passing the barrage of Atatürk, transfer over euphrat bridge to Adiyaman. Two overnight stays in the hotel. (HP).
Day 10: Adiyaman - Nemrutdag
Excursion to the Nemrutda and visit of the statues of god. Next travel to Arsameia and the sepulchre of the Mithridates Kalinikos. Transfer back to Adiyaman. (HP)
Day 11: Adiyaman - Adana
Early in the morning transfer from Adiyaman to Osmaniye, to the excarvations of Karatepe, the most important hethitic temple. Through the fecund kilikish lowland, passing the battle fields of Issos, to Adana. Overnight in the hotel. (HP).
Day 12: Adana - Istanbul - Frankfurt
Transfer to the airport of Adana. Flight via Istanbul to Germany. |
