ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Berlin
Arrival in Berlin. Welcome by an English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. Dinner at hotel. Overnight stay for three nights at the hotel in Berlin.
Day 2: City tour Berlin
After breakfast full day city tour of Berlin. You will see the following sights: the famous Kurfürstendamm with more than 1,000 boutiques and restaurants, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the town hall in Schoeneberg on the John F. Kennedy place, Checkpoint Charlie, the Potsdamer Platz, Brandenburg Gate, the German Parliament Building, Unter den Linden (Under the Lindens), the Gendarmenmarkt, Pergamon Museum.
Day 3: Potsdam and Sanssouci
Excursion to Potsdam and visit of the rococo palace Sanssouci, the former summer palace of Frederick the Great, king of Prussia and further visitation of Cecilienhof. This was the living place of the former crown prince. The Potsdam Agreement was signed there in 1945. Beneath the castles and gardens Potsdam offers more sights such as the Dutch quarter, the Russian colony Alexandrowka, the weaver quarter in Babelsberg. Subsequently return to Berlin.
Day 4: Berlin – Wittenberg – Eisleben – Leipzig
After the breakfast check out. Then we continue the trip to Wittenberg, where Luther nailed the 95 theses against selling of indulgences at the door of the castle church. Visitation of the castle church and the Luther house. Afterwards we drive to Eisleben, the birth town of Luther. Continuation of the journey to Leipzig. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leipzig for two nights.
Day 5: Weimar – Eisenach
After the breakfast we go to Weimar, centre of the German classical epoch. The zenith of the old residence city was the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. Visitation of the Wittumspalais, the Goethe house and Schiller house and the church. Then we drive to Eisenach, the birth place of Johann Sebastion Bach. Visitation of the Wartburg and St Nicholas Church. Return to Leipzig.
Day 6: Leipzig – Meissen – Dresden
In the morning city tour of Leipzig, a city of music and publishing. Richard Wagner was born here, Mendelssohn used to be bandmaster for a long time and Bach acted as cantor in the St Thomas’ church. Visitation of the market place with old town hall, many buildings in renaissance style from the 16th century, the “Auerbach Keller”. Then we go to Meissen where we will find one of Europe’s oldest porcelain manufacture. They still produce precious sets with traditional Meissen pattern. Then we go to Dresden, capital of Saxony. Overnight stay at the hotel in Dresden for two nights.
Day 7: Dresden
After breakfast we will make a city tour through Dresden which is also known as Florence of the river Elbe. Visitation of the biggest German architectural masterpiece and the home of many art collections. Sights: the Zwinger Palace, Theater, the Semper Opera House, the church of our Lady, the Brühl’s Terrace, the Russian Orthodox church. In the rest of the day is free of leisure.
Day 8: Departure from Dresden
After the breakfast check out at the hotel and transfer with English speaking guide and bus to the airport of Dresden and flight back home. |
