ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Thessaloniki
Arrival at the airport of Thessaloniki. Welcome by an English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel in Aghia Triada, 18 km far away from Thessaloniki Dinner at hotel.
Day 2: Thessaloniki – Pella – Vergina – Kozani – Kalambaka
After breakfast ride to Thessaloniki. Visitation of the city and its sights like the rampart and the church Aghia Sophia. Moreover, see the arch of Galerius, the White Tower and the fortress. We leave Theassaloniki to reach Pella where we walk through the excavation area with streets, houses and mosaics. Drive on to Vergina the first capital of Macedonia. We pass Veria and Kozani towards Kalambaka. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Kalambaka.
Day 3: Kalambaka – Meteora – Delphi
Today we have a look at the famous Meteora-Monasteries. We visit churches, a monastery at Aghia Triada and another one at Aghios Stefanos while we are informed about monasticism in Greece and Eastern Europe. On our way to Delphi we pass Trikala, Lamia and Ampfissa. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in/near Delphi.
Day 4: Delphi – Olympia
Visiting Delphi and its Temple of Apollon, the Theatre, the Stadion etc. Furthermore we see the Kastalia Font and the Temple of Athena. Along Itea and Naupaktos drive to Antirion, crossing the new bridge in the direction to Rion, passing Patras and arrive at Olympia. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Olympia.
Day 5: Olympia – Nafplion – Tolon
In Olympia have a look at the excavation area with the remains of the colossal Temple of Zeus, the older Temple of Hera etc. We cross Megalopolis and Tripolis to enter Nafplion, leave this ancient city and reach the resort Tolon. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Tolon.
Day 6: Tolon – Epidaurus – Mykene – Athen
Ride to Epidaurus where we see the open-air theatre and the museum. Next we visit Mykene and the Lion Gate, the king-graves and much more. We drive on to Old-Korinth, have a short break and finally arrive at Athens. Sightseeing tour, then check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Athens
Arriving in Athens we visit the Acropolis, the Nike Temple and the archaeological national Museum that is famous for its rich collection of ancient art. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Departure Athens
After breakfast transfer to the airport of Athens and flight back home. |
