ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Berlin
Arrival in Berlin. Welcome by an English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Berlin.
Day 2: Berlin - Weimar
In the morning we will start for a sightseeing tour in Berlin and visit the most important monuments of the capital of Germany. Afterwards we drive to Weimar. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Weimar.
Day 3: Weimar
Guided tour through Weimar with visitation of the Peter and Paul’s church with the Cranach altar, one of the main works of the Saxon-Thuringian art of the 16th century and most important evidence for the visual presentation of Luther’s teachings. Overnight stay at hotel in Weimar.
Day 4: Moehra – Eisenach - Erfurt
In the morning drive to Moehra, headquarter of Luther’s family. Visit of the the church. Continuation to Eisenach; where we will see the former house of Bach’s family and the house where Luther used to live. Afterwards we drive to the Wartburg castle which was built 900 years ago. Luther translated the bible there in 1521. Visitation of the art collection and then we drive to Erfurt. Overnight stay at the hotel in Erfurt.
Day 5: Erfurt – Arnstadt – Erfurt
In the morning we drive to Arnstadt. Guided walk through the oldest town in Eastern Germany. Johann Sebastian Bach used to work there as organist from 1703 to 1707. The next stop is Erfurt, guided tour through the cathedral, medieval city centre of the Thuringian regional capital. Visitation of the Augustinian cloister, in which Martin Luther used to live as monk from 1505 to 1511. Overnight stay at the hotel in Erfurt.
Day 6: Luthertown - Wittenberg – Leipzig
Today we will drive to Wittenberg, the city of the reformation, guided tour through the old city and the new designed Luthermuseum, the town and the castle church. Then we continue our trip to Leipzig: Visit of St Thomas’ Church: Johann Sebastian Bach, cantata; new Cloth Hall. Overnight stay at hotel in Leipzig.
Day 7: Leipzig - Luthertown Eisleben - Leipzig
After breakfast the tour is going to Eisleben, in which the reformer was born in 1483 and died in 1546. We will visit Luther’s Birth House, Luther’s Death House, St Andrew church and market place. Drive back to Leipzig. Overnight stay at hotel in Leipzig.
Day 8: Leipzig – Potsdam - Berlin
After breakfast we will drive to Potsdam for a visit of the famous castle “Sanssouci”, which was built by Frederick II of Prussia. Then we continue to Berlin. The rest of the day is free of leisure. Overnight stay at hotel in Berlin.
Day 9: Departure from Berlin
After breakfast transfer with English speaking guide and bus to the airport and flight back home. |
